SafeWax at European Researchers’ Night
The University of Bologna’s SafeWax team took part in the European Researchers’ Night, where they engaged with a diverse audience excited to learn about groundbreaking research, including the SafeWax project. Among the interactive activities organized for the event was a hands-on demonstration where participants could select fungal pathogen samples from petri dishes, prepare them for microscopic observation, and identify the species with the help of detailed charts.
Attendees also explored the superhydrophobicity phenomenon firsthand, using specially crafted, wax-coated grapevine-shaped leaves. These SafeWax-themed gadgets were a hit with the crowd, generating significant interest and curiosity.
The evening was filled with enthusiasm, offering the Unibo SafeWax team a unique opportunity to answer a wide range of questions—from the technical challenges of the project to broader conversations about the importance of sustainability in agriculture. The event proved to be an excellent platform to share the mission and progress of the SafeWax project, ignite curiosity about sustainable crop protection, and deepen the connection between scientific innovation and everyday life.
