from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Technion Technion – Israel Institute of Technology presenting her work on Bioinspired surfaces with anti-microbial properties for sustainable crop protection.
The research, co-authored by Elena Prudnikov, Gali Ron, Boaz Pokroy, and Ester Segal, introduces a bioinspired, sprayable coating utilizing saturated fatty acids to fight fungal pathogens.

By tuning the fatty acid composition, the activity of the resulting coatings can be tuned from passive prevention of the fungal pathogen attachment to active antifungal properties. These coatings could revolutionize crop protection by offering an environmentally responsible alternative to chemical fungicides.
